Who Is Ayurveda Integration Best For?
New Diagnosis From doctor
Sometimes with a new diagnosis we need support, not just digesting the information, but also understanding the nature of the diagnosis. You may want to know all there is to know about how to heal but are confused about why your doctor gave you certain orders. Sita can help you process your new diagnosis and to understand it from its root cause.
Complicated treatment plan
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua. Ut enim ad minim veniam
Daily Practices
Your doctor might have given you a variety of daily practices in an effort to get your body back to its natural rhythms. This can open up a whole host of questions like; do I have to do this "thing" this time of day? Is there flexibility with this? Is there an alternative to that? Often times, there are a variety of options that will give you the same result. Your doctor doesn't often have the time to tell you what they are and explain them to you. Sita can help you create the plan that is 100% compliant and aligned with your doctor's plan, and one that fits with who you are and the life you lead.
Food & Cooking
Some people avoid Ayurveda because having to adhere to certain foods or the fear of having to cook a lot, or cook differently can be anxiety inducing. Sita will create specialized recipes according to your most balancing foods, along with tips and tricks that don't keep you in the kitchen for hours on end. Cooking needs to be simple and effective for your plan to work. Sita is here to help!
Supplements
When you are first working with your Ayurvedic doctor, you may be asked to take a variety of supplements to support your healing process. It can be overwhelming to know when and how to take them all, let alone many of their names are in a different language. Sita can help you get organized with your supplements so it doesn't have to eat up a lot of your day and your mental bandwidth.
Ayurvedic Nutrition vs Mainstream Nutrition
You may be wondering what the difference is between Ayurvedic nutrition and Western/allopathic, and even, Naturopathic medicine. Below are just a few distinctions:
Holistic:
Ayurvedic Nutrition: Focuses on the balance of the mind, body, and spirit. It considers the individual's constitution (Prakriti) and current state of balance or imbalance (Vikriti).
Regular Nutrition: Primarily focuses on the physical body and its nutritional needs based on macronutrients (carbohydrates, proteins, fats) and micronutrients (vitamins, minerals).
Naturally Individualized
Ayurvedic Nutrition: Highly individualized. Diet recommendations are based on an individual's dosha (Vata, Pitta, Kapha) and their current state of health. It tailors food choices to balance these energies.
Regular Nutrition: Often based on general dietary guidelines suitable for the average person, such as the USDA's Dietary Guidelines. Which is not necessarily a bad thing, however it misses many important elements to whole person health.
Digestive Health
Ayurvedic Nutrition: Emphasizes the importance of Agni (digestive fire) and proper digestion. It promotes practices to strengthen digestion and avoid Ama (toxins) buildup. Crazy thing: The kombucha craze isn’t doing everyone digestive health favors like mainstream and Westernized Ayurveda suggests!
Regular Nutrition: Considers digestion, but often focuses more on dietary fiber, probiotics, and overall gut health without the broader concept of digestive fire.
Mindful Eating
Ayurvedic Nutrition: Encourages mindful eating practices such as eating in a calm environment, chewing food thoroughly, and paying attention to the body’s hunger and satiety signals.
Regular Nutrition: Mindful eating is recognized and recommended but is not as deeply integrated into the core principles.
Herbs and Spices
Ayurvedic Nutrition: Uses specific herbs and spices not only for flavor but also for their medicinal properties to balance the doshas and enhance digestion. Sita teaches you how to use your kitchen herbs medicinally in support of your health.
Regular Nutrition: Herbs and spices are used primarily for flavor, though their health benefits are acknowledged in recent years.
Detoxification
Ayurvedic Nutrition: Regularly includes practices and foods that support detoxification and cleansing of the body. And traditionally is not doing crash cleanses at specific times but rather incorporating cleansing foods on a regular basis with a spring and fall cleaning to get additional toxins out. Does this mean you can’t eat pizza ever again? No way!
Regular Nutrition: Detox diets are often viewed with skepticism in mainstream nutrition, though there is acknowledgment of the importance of liver health and hydration.
By considering these aspects, Ayurvedic nutrition provides a comprehensive framework that goes beyond the physical nutrients in food to encompass mental and spiritual well-being.
