Well, that all depends on which part of yourself you are asking. There is this human version of ourselves that enjoys being able to anticipate what the next step is. We feel safe knowing there aren’t any curve balls headed our way. And then there is that higher part of ourselves, your spirit, that sees life as an adventure. This part of us that is able to more naturally see the big picture and knows that in reality, we are always safe. Perspective is a crucial ingredient when working with the comfort zone.
The truth is, we do not grow and evolve in the comfort zone. As cliché as it is, there is so much truth to the saying, “you can’t fully appreciate the good if you don’t have anything to compare it to”. When we overstay our welcome in our comfort zone we become just like a stagnant pond. We lack all the elements needed to thrive.
Here are some ways to get out of your comfort zone;
• Change your schedule from time to time.
• Take a different route home.
• Eat breakfast for dinner.
• Take a day off work to sit and watch TV or do something you enjoy.
• Change your hair color or your physical appearance in even a small way.
Moving out of the comfort zone takes courage; a courage that comes from a deeper part of our selves.
Ask yourself;
Where in my life do I feel stagnant?
Where in my life do I feel lackluster or depleted?
Chances are what you need to do is add a little movement into that area of your life. When you mix, movement, perspective and courage as your key ingredients to your life you will be amazed at how quickly you feel animated and ready to take on the world on in a different way!
